Well, it’s been a little while! It was always my intention to keep this page going after Jesse got out of the hospital and throughout his recovery, but life has been busy and crazy and at times overwhelming and now it’s February, so here we are. Here are a few of the updates since ourContinue reading “Catching Up: Part 1, November and December”

A few updates and THANK YOU!
I’ve been back in Colorado for a week now, and it’s remarkable to see how much progress Jesse has made since we arrived at Craig on September 8th. He is doing almost everything independently, despite still needing to wear a back brace that makes bending and twisting impossible. He’ll need to continue wearing the braceContinue reading “A few updates and THANK YOU!”
Update from the Road
Fair warning, this post is more about me than Jesse. Scroll to the end if you want to hear more about Jesse! It’s been a few weeks, and what a few weeks it has been! I left Denver on September 30 to head back to Orcas for a “quick” trip to get some things doneContinue reading “Update from the Road”
Orcas friends! We need your help!
Hi Orcas friends! Jesse’s mom will be here tomorrow, and I’m heading back to the island for a short time to get some things done around the property (and actually show up to work for bit). We have a few unfinished projects around the house and cabin and I could really use some help toContinue reading “Orcas friends! We need your help!”
From Jesse! To All My Family and Friends…. Thank You!
It has been one month to the day since the accident. It has been the hardest month of my life. My mind, body, and spiritual being has been completely shaken by the loss of one of my best friend’s, Corey, and the current paralyzing of my legs. I say “current” because I am doing myContinue reading “From Jesse! To All My Family and Friends…. Thank You!”
Happy Birthday Jesse!
Today is bittersweet; it’s been one month since the accident, and today is Jesse’s birthday and also the day of Corey’s memorial service. All of this is so far from how we ever would have hoped or expected to spend this day, but we’re doing our best to wrap our minds around the intense combinationContinue reading “Happy Birthday Jesse!”
Sharing Some Joy
For anyone who follows me on Instagram, this is a repeat, but I wanted to share it here too. A bit of history… Jesse and I first met back in 2006. I was just a few months out of college and started teaching outdoor and environmental education for the Appalachian Mountain Club right at theContinue reading “Sharing Some Joy”
September 9, on to Craig Hospital
Yesterday was a big day! 2 weeks to the day after the crash, we left Medical Center of the Rockies for Craig Hospital, just outside of Denver. Craig has a reputation as one of the best specialty rehabs for spinal cord injury, and we’ve heard nothing but great things from the staff at Medical CenterContinue reading “September 9, on to Craig Hospital”
Sunday, September 6
Just a quick update today. After getting some adjustments made to his back brace, Jesse had a great session with the hospital physical therapists this morning. Everything is still on track for him to move to Craig Rehab on Tuesday, and he is SO ready to be out of here and on to the nextContinue reading “Sunday, September 6”
Saturday, September 5, 2020
The last 10 days have been a blur, and it’s been hard to keep up with everything going on. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who has called, texted, emailed, and otherwise reached out to us. Even if we haven’t replied, please know we appreciate your thoughts, prayers, good vibes, and positive energy. It’s clearContinue reading “Saturday, September 5, 2020”
